The St. Louis Blues are currently in trade discussions with the Ottawa Senators involving forward Mike Hoffman. Hoffman is currently involved in a scandal involving his long time girlfriend harassing the wife of Erik Karlsson. While that situation is playing itself out, Hoffman’s trade value has decreased. The Blues and Senators nearly agreed to a trade on deadline day that would have likely sent Robby Fabbri, a first round pick, and one of Tage Thompson, Klim Kostin, or Jordan Kyrou to Ottawa in exchange for Mike Hoffman. Doug Armstrong wouldn’t budge on giving away one of his top tier prospects so there wasn’t a deal. The price for Mike Hoffman now seems to be a first round pick and either an NHL roster player, or a high tiered prospect. Hoffman is 28 years old and has two years left on his contract ($5.2 million AAV). The 6’1 winger has tallied 176 points over the past three seasons, including 77 goals. Hoffman provides elite speed along the boards and has a great shot. He would be a huge add to any top six forward group and power play unit.
